Lexus has officially revealed the all-new Lexus TZ, its first fully electric three-row luxury SUV. The new model represents one of the brand’s biggest EV launches yet, combining family practicality with premium comfort, advanced technology, and strong electric performance. Unlike the smaller RZ crossover, the TZ enters the full-size luxury SUV segment and directly targets rivals such as the Kia EV9, Volvo EX90, Mercedes EQS SUV, and Rivian R1S.

Large Dimensions And Road Presence

The Lexus TZ is a very large SUV designed mainly for families and long-distance luxury travel. Official figures confirm the vehicle measures 5,100 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,705 mm in height, while riding on a long 3,050 mm wheelbase. This gives the TZ proportions similar to flagship luxury SUVs while also maximizing interior space for all three rows.

The SUV weighs approximately 2,630 kg due to its large battery pack and reinforced electric platform. Lexus also focused heavily on aerodynamics despite the large body size, achieving a drag coefficient of around 0.27 thanks to flush door handles, redesigned mirrors, and airflow-focused wheel designs.

Lexus will offer the TZ with either 20-inch or 22-inch alloy wheels fitted with low rolling resistance tires to improve efficiency and driving range. The minimum turning radius reaches 5.4 meters with Dynamic Rear Steering equipped, helping the large SUV feel more manageable in tight spaces.

Powerful Dual-Motor Electric Setup

Every Lexus TZ model comes standard with DIRECT4 all-wheel drive using dual electric motors. The front motor produces 167 kW, while the rear motor produces another 167 kW, giving the SUV a combined system output of 300 kW or approximately 408 horsepower.

Torque figures reach 268.6 Nm from each motor, allowing the system to intelligently distribute power between the front and rear wheels depending on road conditions and driving style. Lexus says the DIRECT4 system can continuously vary torque distribution to improve stability, comfort, and cornering precision.

Despite its large size, the TZ accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.4 seconds, placing it among the quicker luxury family SUVs in the segment. Lexus has also developed the vehicle with a focus on quietness and smoothness rather than aggressive sporty driving.

Battery Capacity And Driving Range

The Lexus TZ uses a large lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 95.82 kWh in long-range versions. Some reports also mention a smaller 76.96 kWh battery option for selected markets or lower trims.

Official estimated range figures vary by market and testing cycle. Lexus currently estimates:

• Up to 620 km in Japan testing

• Around 530 km under European WLTP standards

• Roughly 300 miles in North America

• Around 640 km under Chinese CLTC testing

Charging performance is also competitive for a luxury EV. The TZ supports multiple charging standards including NACS, CCS, CHAdeMO, and GB/T depending on the region. DC fast charging at 150 kW can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging support ranges from 11 kW up to 22 kW depending on market specification.

Luxury Cabin And Advanced Technology

Lexus describes the TZ as a “Driving Lounge,” focusing heavily on passenger comfort and cabin relaxation. The SUV is available as a six-seat configuration with captain chairs in the second row, and some versions offer ventilated seats and powered ottomans for rear passengers.

The cabin includes a large panoramic roof, ambient lighting, premium sound insulation, and high-quality materials such as forged bamboo trim and recycled aluminum accents. Lexus says the interior was engineered to deliver one of the quietest cabins the brand has ever produced.

Cargo space ranges from 290 liters behind the third row up to more than 2,000 liters with the rear seats folded, making the TZ practical for family travel and luggage-heavy trips.

Lexus’ Biggest EV Yet

The TZ marks a major turning point for Lexus’ electric strategy. While Toyota and Lexus were previously criticized for slow EV expansion, the TZ shows the company is now entering the premium electric SUV segment more aggressively.

Unlike many competitors that focus heavily on extreme performance, Lexus is positioning the TZ around comfort, quietness, reliability, and long-distance luxury travel. This approach may appeal strongly to buyers who want an electric SUV without sacrificing the traditional Lexus ownership experience.

If pricing remains competitive, the TZ could become one of the most important luxury electric SUVs in the Middle East and global markets over the next few years.
