Buying a car in Qatar is easier than ever, with a wide range of financing options available through banks, finance companies, and authorised dealerships. Whether you're buying a new or used vehicle, understanding how car finance works can help you secure the best deal.
To be eligible for car finance, applicants generally need a valid Qatar ID, a stable source of income, and to meet the lender's minimum salary requirement. In most cases, your salary must be transferred to the bank providing the finance, although some lenders may offer alternatives. You will also need a vehicle quotation, and your employer and credit history may be considered during the approval process.
Most major banks in Qatar offer vehicle finance, including Qatar National Bank (QNB), Commercial Bank, Doha Bank, Ahlibank, and International Bank of Qatar (IBQ). Customers looking for Sharia-compliant financing can choose Islamic lenders such as Dukhan Bank and Masraf Al Rayan, which offer vehicle finance based on Islamic principles.
In addition to banks, finance companies such as First Finance and Al Jazeera Finance provide competitive financing solutions with flexible options for many customers.
Financing isn't limited to cars purchased from dealerships. If you're buying a vehicle from an individual, you can still obtain financing by taking the car to an approved used-car dealer. The dealer will inspect the vehicle and issue an official quotation that can be submitted to the bank or finance company. This service typically costs between QAR 1,000 and QAR 3,000.
It's also worth keeping an eye on special in-house installment offers from authorised dealerships. Brands such as Chery, Toyota, GMC, and many others regularly launch promotional financing campaigns that may include low or zero-profit rates, reduced down payments, extended repayment periods, or even free insurance and registration. In many cases, these offers can be more attractive than arranging finance directly through a bank.
Before signing any finance agreement, compare the financing rate, monthly installment, repayment period, processing fees, insurance costs, and early settlement charges. Spending a little time comparing lenders and dealership offers could save you thousands of riyals over the life of your finance agreement.
