The Traffic Department in Qatar and the Internal Security Force / Lakhwiya called upon citizens and residents in Qatar to follow the guidelines, rules, and laws during the National Day celebrations.
This came at a press conference held last Tuesday at the “Officers' Club” and was dedicated to announcing safety guidelines and alerts to be taken into accounts during the country's National Day celebrations.
Lt. Col. Mohammed Radhi Al-Hajri, Director of Media and Traffic Awareness Department at the Traffic Department, stressed the importance of taking precautions and to follow security and safety requirements during the celebration.
He also pointed out in the context of his speech to some traffic violations that are not noticed by some people, such as decorating cars in violation of the law, and conduct behaviours that violate the traffic regulations in the country. He pointed to a set of controls and requirements for the decoration of vehicles during the days of the celebration from 15 to 21 December.
Some of the forbidden decorations are; a complete change in colour of the car, covering the number plate, shading the windscreen and driver's windows.
Drivers also warned not to block traffic or park on the side of the road. Additionally, drivers are also warned not to get out of the car window, or drive without seatbelt on. Drifting, taking over from the right side, and exceeding the speed limit are also violations on the National Day as well as on all days.
