The Public Works Authority has announced the completion of the improvement works of the third phase of Rawdat Rashed Road. This phase aims at providing a safe road to link Salwa Road with Dukhan highway, this road officially opened to traffic.
The third phase of the project included the construction of a 14-kilometer road running from Al-Jadid roundabout to the intersection of Busir and Dukhan Highway. The road has three lanes in each direction. In addition,the improvement included: street lighting systems, safety barriers, road signs and all service facilities have been installed such as drinking water lines, power cables and communication networks.
The first and the second phases of the project was completed in October 2016. Phase 4 started in November 2017. The Rawdat Rashed road will be connected to the Salwa road bridge and a new bridge will be constructed to accommodate traffic congestion. It is expected that Phase 4 development is to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The development work of the Public Works Authority aims to improve the road capacity by increasing the number of lanes and their allocation, which enhances the traffic safety for road users and reduce the traffic congestion in many areas, especially residential ones.
