GM executive vice president Mark Reuss lost the control of the car, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 2019. The reason for losing control of his car was the loss of the Chevrolet Corvette friction on the road; the car hit the wall and the wheels ignited. Mark Reuss suffered injuries but they were not serious.

As a result of this accident, the race was delayed for half an hour so the crews could remove the wreckage and prepare the track again for the race.
General Motors said in response to the accident that it was caused by various factors such as track and weather conditions. They said the car safety systems worked excellently.

The Corvette ZR1 2019 has a modern performance specification with an adjustable rear spoiler, brembo brakes, chrome and aluminum wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
In addition, the car has a 6.2 liter V8 engine generating 755 hp 715 lb. of torque.
