Nissan has expanded the Frontier lineup with the new 2027 Frontier Sport package, giving the midsize pickup a more aggressive appearance and additional off-road-inspired equipment while keeping the truck’s established mechanical setup unchanged. Rather than introducing a new engine or redesigning the platform, Nissan focused on adding styling and functional upgrades to buyers who want a tougher look without moving up to the more hardcore Pro-4X.

V6 Power Remains Unchanged
Under the hood, the 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport continues using the brand’s familiar 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine. The engine produces 310 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Sport package does not bring extra performance upgrades, but the V6 remains one of the larger naturally aspirated engines in the midsize pickup segment, providing smooth power delivery without relying on turbocharging.
Buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations depending on trim and intended use.

Off-Road Inspired Exterior Upgrades
The biggest changes appear on the outside. Nissan equipped the Frontier Sport with several visual and functional additions aimed at giving the truck a stronger off-road identity.
The package includes:
● 17-inch black wheels
● 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires
● Tires measuring approximately 32 inches in overall diameter
● Aluminum front skid plate
● LED fog lights
● Front accent lighting
While these upgrades improve visual presence and may help on loose surfaces, the Sport package remains more of a styling and light adventure package rather than a dedicated off-road model.

Practical Capability Still Matters
Despite the styling updates, Frontier keeps its practical pickup credentials.
Maximum towing capacity reaches 7,150 lb, while payload can reach up to 1,590 lb depending on configuration.
Nissan also continues offering multiple body styles, including King Cab and Crew Cab versions with both 5-foot and 6-foot bed options, allowing buyers to choose between cargo flexibility and passenger space.

Cabin Technology Receives Useful Features
Inside, the Frontier maintains its technology-focused approach with a standard 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, while some configurations also receive Qi2 wireless charging capability.
Rather than completely reinventing the Frontier, Nissan appears to be targeting customers who want stronger visual appeal and useful equipment additions while keeping the pickup’s proven mechanical foundation intact.
