Qatar's Ministry of Interior has issued a summer safety advisory urging motorists to take precautions to reduce the risk of vehicle fires during periods of extreme heat.

According to the ministry, drivers should follow these key guidelines:

  • Do not leave mobile phones inside parked vehicles.
  • Do not leave portable chargers (power banks) in the vehicle.
  • Avoid leaving lighters inside the cabin.a
  • Remove perfumes, hand sanitizers, aerosol products, and other flammable substances from the vehicle.
  • Avoid making hazardous modifications to the vehicle's electrical system.
  • Ensure any electrical accessories or wiring are installed properly and safely.

The ministry noted that high temperatures can increase the risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, pressurized containers, and flammable materials left inside vehicles. It also warned that improper electrical modifications can lead to short circuits and increase the likelihood of vehicle fires.

Motorists are encouraged to remain vigilant during the summer months and follow these precautions to help improve safety and prevent heat-related incidents.
