Pros and Cons of Electric Cars

 

After Qatar has announced the opening of the first electric car factory in Qatar and in the Middle East, in partnership with a senior Japanese company in the electric car industry, the debate about the disadvantages and advantages of electric cars has increased .

 

What are the advantages of electric cars?

 

1. Environmentally friendly

 

Electric cars do not release any kind of carbon emissions and do not produce smoke or exhaust, thus preserving the environment, especially in crowded cities.

2. Saving money

 

Electric cars do not need to be refueled, which means saving a lot of the money they could have spent on car fuel. Electric cars are recharged with electricity, which is cheap compared to fuel.

 

3. Do not need maintenance

 

As electric cars rely on batteries, you do not need to do maintenance work for the engine and other related parts such as changing valves and changing oil, which usually require regular maintenance. That means no need to go to maintenance centers and thus save a lot of money.

 

4. Suitable for cities

 

Electric cars are quiet, with no engine sound, and are suitable for busy cities because they are easy to operate and stop.

It  contains air bags and can cut off electrical supplies to stop the battery and protect the other passengers.

What are the disadvantages of electric cars?

 

1- Limited power stations

 

This may be one of the most disadvantages of electric cars because the city infrastructure is not equipped to provide enough power stations to serve electric vehicle owners. This requires a lot of time, effort and money to provide.

 

2 - Expensive

 

Electric cars are still much more expensive than conventional cars, reducing the number of people who will think of buying them.

 

3. Electrical stations emissions

 

Although electric cars are environmentally friendly, electric stations still emit harmful emissions that pollute the environment.

 

4. Batteries

 

Just thinking about getting out of your car but you forgot to charge it is very bad. Do not forget that if you go on a long journey and suddenly the car stopped in a place where there are no power stations to charge the car, you will not be able to complete your trip or return home.In addition, batteries are heavy which  affect the operation of the car.

 

5. Difficulty in maintenance

 

The fact that the car is electric means that all of its parts are electronic. If the car stopped for example, the solution would not be to change the oil or something like that. But on the contrary, it will need electronic parts or it may be unavailable in your country.
