Toyota To Help Suzuki Develop Ultra-Efficient Engine

 

 

Japanese Toyota and Suzuki have provided more details about the collaboration between them since the last year to develop hybrid and electric vehicles. They both have announced that  Suzuki will develop Ultra-efficient engine via the help of Toyota and Denso Corp. The vehicles with the new ultra-efficient engine will be produced at Toyota's Bangalore factory.

These vehicles will not being sold only in India that the scope of sale will include global markets such as Africa and all over the world.

In March from this year, the cooperation has been enhanced after the basic agreement they have signed. It discusses that Toyota will sell Maruti's premium hatchback Baleno in India while Maruti will sell Toyota's global best-selling model Corolla for India by early next year.

It is worth mentioning that Suzuki is the first Japanese company to enter India and has been working hard since then to develop the automotive industry there. It is very clear that the partnership between Toyota and Suzuki and the support that Toyota provides  predicts a future full of achievements and innovations.

What are the reasons behind the cooperation between Toyota and Suzuki?

Toyota is one of the world's leading alternative vehicle technologies and has the best hybrid model in the world, so it is a weakness for Suzuki that need the help of Toyota in this point. At the same time, Toyota's position is somehow weak in emerging markets such as India, so it needs the help of Suzuki in this side.

How Toyota did help Suzuki?

Toyota and Suzuki signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in February last year to develop technologies such as environment, security and information technology. The first achievements of their efforts were in May this year, when the two companies signed a work agreement on several projects, including:

1. Suzuki will develop a new ultra high-efficiency powertrainusing Toyota and Denso technologies.
2. Models designed by Suzuki will be produced in India and the selling will also be in India via TKM.
3. There will be also other markets in Africa and other places.

No further details have been announced so it is likely that they did not agree on details other than those mentioned. It is expected to discuss and inform the public about the rest of the details soon.

 

Akio Toyoda, Toyota Company President, said that Toyota, in cooperation with Suzuki, will work to improve the transport and export of Indian industries worldwide. Suzuki Chairman also expressed his pleasure in partnering with Toyota.
