New underpass is open on East Industrial Street

By, 2017-06-05

The Public Works Authority in Qatar, "Ashghal", opened the underpass on East Industrial Street with Industrial Road interchange as part of the East Street 33 Interchange last Thursday 1st June 2017.

Combined with the recently opened flyover on Industrial Area Road, the new underpass will significantly improve the traffic in the area and will provide free flow traffic in the two main directions of the interchange.

The new underpass stretches for one kilometer and comprises three lanes in each direction.

The opening of the new underpass and flyover marks the completion of the main construction works on East Street 33 Interchange, which will replace the roundabout (known as Al-Watan Petrol Station roundabout).

The East Street 33 Interchange is one of the most important five interchanges on Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension Project due to its location and the significant improvement it will have on the traffic in the area.

Ashghal is currently implementing the final remaining works on this interchange, which is the at-grade signalised intersection to enable multiple traffic flow movements. The at-grade signalised intersection is scheduled to be completed in July 2017.

Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension project is a 12.5 killometre of new dual carriageway located to the south of the Industrial Area, from East Street 33 Interchange, to Bu Hamour Interchange on the Junction of Mesaimeer Street with wholesale Market Street. The project aims to prove direct access to the Industrial Area and link it to Doha City. It will also connect the F-Ring Road with the wholesale Market Street and Mesaimeer Road. The project serves a vital area comprising a large number of commercial and residential properties such as Barwa Commercial Avenue, which stretches along the project, In addition to the residential areas in Bu Hamour, Ain Khalid and Umm Al Saneem in the north.
