In an interview with Al Sharq Newspaper, Mr Saad Al Muraikhi, Director of Licensing General Traffic Department in Qatar revealed that the Traffic Department in Qatar is about to launch new sets of rules and regulations in car inspection. The new legislation will mainly affect cars which are more than 15 years old.
Mr Al Muraikhi mentioned that after 15 year of age for any car in Qatar, it is difficult for its owner to maintain certain standards with regard to safety on the roads. Therefore, the General Traffic Department must implement new rules to prevent any danger on the roads.
The new legislations will include cars and lorries. It will involve registering the car service history, the lighting, and the tires.
Mr Al Muraikhi confirmed that the Department is revising the new legislation which will be launched to the public in the neat future
