The project will provide:
1. 60 shops and other facilities with less rent prices.
2. less time consumed for car hunters.
3. Possible new car dealers from GCC.
The contract includes building 60 car showrooms, 176 residential apartments for employees and 10 commercial shops and workshops, scheduled for completion within approximately 12 months.
Key features of the original project include 650,00m² GFA, workshops, showrooms, residential apartments and staff accommodation, as well as a hotel and motel, a police station, insurance offices, vehicle testing facilities, a medical centre with ambulance station, a mosque, race track, pavilion, heliport and a Woqod petrol station is also planned for the complex.
Plans for the development however, were scaled back in 2014, reducing the size of Motor City by more than 40%, with officials saying at the time that the company would rent some 1.15 million square metres from the government for the project. While developers originally said the hotel, insurance companies, government services, banks and driving schools would form part of the complex, these will however probably come in later stages. Included in the project’s infrastructure are three electrical substations, internal roads, potable water, firefighting services, irrigation, sewage, storm water removal and CCTV networks and related services.
