The dust and low visibility will last until Monday

Qatar health ministry issues safety warning ahead of sandstorm. All residents in Qatar must take precautions as severe windy and dusty conditions set in over today and the next couple of days.

According to the Qatar Meteorology Department (MET), a high pressure front over the country from tonight to Monday will cause wind speeds to increase to up to 35 knots (65km/hour), picking up dust and dropping visibility to below 2km which for sure will affect drivers.

In reference to this news of the bad weather conditions in Doha, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has urged the elderly and those with asthma or allergies to avoid contact with dust.

Health Advice In an announcement by the MOPH where the ministry advised all people who plan to go outdoors to wear masks and to avoid rubbing their eyes to prevent infections. The MOPH added: Individuals must seek treatment if having breathing difficulties.
