Rolls-Royce updates the eighth generation of the Phantom

By, 2022-05-16

Rolls Royce Phantom

Doha - Qatar - The eighth generation of the Phantom was launched in 2017. When creating the new version, Rolls-Royce designers and engineers worked to meet the demands of customers who pleaded with the company not to make major changes to this legendary car. In response to customer wishes, only minor improvements and modifications were made.

Without a doubt, the most important feature we wanted to maintain was the strong presence of the Phantom. This presence is further enhanced by a new painted horizontal line between the daytime running lights above the Pantheon's grille.

This line added a new, modern and assertive character to the car, reflecting the Phantom's focus on delivering a distinct driver experience. Furthermore, a slight geometric change has been added to the Pantheon's front grille, whereby the luxurious RR emblem and Spirit of Ecstasy emblem are even more visible when viewed from the front.

The front grille has also been illuminated, a feature that became popular with the new Ghost. The headlights are decorated with a star-studded frame via laser cutting technology, matching the star-studded roof inside the car and adding an element of surprise and fun to the Phantom experience at night.

The Phantom From The Side

The Phantom maintains Rolls-Royce's short lines at the front and long wheels at the rear, as well as the long wheelbase and wide rear window seat to give more privacy to the occupants. The car's design maintains the elegant main lines that extend from the Spirit of Ecstasy to the tail end.

The split beltline starts at the front fender and curves slightly toward the tailgate to accentuate the car's length, before sloping gently toward the taillights.

The underside line leaves a heavy shadow that mimics the brand's magic carpet experience. The car's side profile has been enhanced with a new wheel design.

The 3D wheel is available in stainless steel with triangular sides with a polished finish in full or in part. Alternatively, an elegant disc wheel can be chosen to be fitted to the Phantom inspired by the Rolls-Royce cars of the 1920s. This disc wheel is produced in brushed stainless steel and black lacquer to clearly convey the feeling of flying on the ground.

To meet the needs of Phantom customers, it is now possible to order the front grille surround in dark chrome, and the hood, windshield surround and side frame trims in black.

Thus, Rolls-Royce is able to transform the exterior of the Phantom into an all-light or all-dark design.

The Phantom Interior

The luxurious interior design of the Phantom remains unchanged. The steering wheel has become a little thicker to provide a direct and comfortable contact point for the owner-driver.

The Phantom and the Phantom Extended Wheelbase have two distinct character traits that represent two types of owners. The Phantom has become the preferred choice for an increasing number of customers looking to take the wheel themselves, while the extended wheelbase Phantom offers a luxurious experience for those who prefer to ride in the rear cabin with a chauffeur-driven task.

Rolls-Royce Connected

Phantom launches Rolls-Royce Connected feature that allows the car owner to send addresses directly to the car from the Whispers app for Rolls-Royce members, to seamlessly access an event, restaurant, authorized Rolls-Royce dealership or even Rolls-Royce House.

The Rolls-Royce Connected feature also displays the car's location, security status and safety on the Whispers app, where the owner can, at the push of a button, contact his preferred dealership to request maintenance services or information about the car.

Phantom Platino

To celebrate the launch of the Phantom Series II and to highlight the capabilities of Rolls-Royce Bespoke, the marque has created a new masterpiece called Phantom Platino, named after the precious and coveted platinum metal in the whitish silver colour.

The Phantom Platino continues Rolls-Royce's exploration of interior fabrics, after the story began in 2015 with the launch of the Phantom Serenity, which featured an embroidered and hand-painted silk interior.

The Phantom Platino opens a new chapter in this journey by introducing materials other than leather, an area that Rolls-Royce seeks to explore in depth and movement that signifies a growing acceptance of alternative interior materials.

The front seats of the Phantom Platino are covered in premium Rolls-Royce leather, while the rear seats are upholstered in cloth. The Platino Gradient interior combines two different fabrics, one made in an Italian laboratory and has a durable and luxurious look, and the other derived from bamboo fibers with a glossy finish.

The two materials share the same original pattern based on an abstract interpretation of the Spirit of Ecstasy anthropomorphic. In silk, the design is smaller and woven into the fabric to give an eye-catching touch.

The design also appears in the Phantom Gallery, directly in the passenger's field of view and on key focal points such as the armrests and center console. The bamboo cloth is embroidered in larger shapes that represent the braided look common in the interior design.

This flexible material is placed on the lower elements of the cabin interior that are subject to the greatest amount of friction. The same design appears on the clock displayed on the front panel of the Phantom.

Made from 3D-printed ceramic, the Ocean is an ultra-modern implementation of an originally traditional material. The chromatic features of the Phantom's interior are elevated to unprecedented levels of luxury through the use of glossy wood.

The largest surface on the Phantom is the star-studded headliner. This unique design was created exclusively for the Rolls-Royce Platino, with the stars placed to catch the eye.
