Qatar Investment Authority.

The opening coincides with the launch of a new business entity called Volkswagen Group Middle East. This new regional headquarters will be responsible for the company's core business in the region, including strategy, finance, human resources, information technology, procurement and legal operations.

This new entity will oversee and support the activities of the Volkswagen Group in all markets in which the Volkswagen Group brands are active in the Middle East. The launch of the new regional headquarters and business entity exemplifies the Group's commitment to Qatar and the region.

With a presence in Qatar for more than 15 years, the group recognizes the exceptional value that the country offers and plans to continue its growth with local partners. Benoit Thiers was appointed as Regional CEO of Volkswagen Group Middle East from Germany, where he was Group Director of the Audi AG Group in Western Europe.

The Volkswagen Group's new "New Start" strategy focuses on mobility for future generations, as the group shifts to producing zero-emissions electric vehicles and develops autonomous driving technologies to pioneer software and mobility solutions by 2030. This trend is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to develop a sustainable and high standard of living for its residents and for future generations.

The Volkswagen Group will work closely with relevant government entities to support the country's economic and environmental development plans, specifically towards implementing the country's sustainable agenda.

As a first step to support the development of all-electric vehicle sales in Qatar, Dr. Deiss announced a US$1 million investment in the Audi brand in 2022. This investment, in coordination with partners and local authorities, will allow the development of the country's charging infrastructure. Audi already offers four fully electric car models in Qatar with the e-tron and e-tron GT range.
