Few days ago, inspectors from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) seized approximately 4,900 car tyres from one showroom in the industrial are in Qatar, as reported by The Peninsula.
The MEC took immediate decision and closed down the showroom and the warehouse which belongs to the showroom for at least one month.
Another investigation campaign has lead to seizing more tyres but this time because they are expired. A number of warehouses for major brands were ordered to close down for one month following this inspection.
The law prohibits the sale, display and promotion of counterfeit and fraudulent products and the decision of closure is published on the ministry’s website as well as two daily newspapers at the offending store’s own expense in line with article (3) of law no (8) on consumer protection.
