tire qatar summer

The summer has come and we are witnessing high temperatures above 40° C in Qatar, and there is no doubt the hot summer months put ghuge pressure on tires.

More than 5% of road deaths in the Qatar are due to bad wheel maintenance. Nasser Shaasha, Regional Manager, Michelin Middle East, said: "During our recent tire inspection campaigns, where we examined about 300 vehicles, we found that about 20% of the vehicles tested were either low or high pressure tires, About 30% of tires were damaged. "These defects are a potential risk to the safety of drivers in the GCC region, who drive long distances often, especially during the hot summer months."

Therefore, we want to offer tips and tricks to drivers in Qatar to make sure this hot summer is safe.

Main and Important Tips:

Regularly and ideally Before going on a trip each time, you should walk quickly around the vehicle, check the tire condition, and remember the recommended pressure ratios which you can find in the owner's manual or on a sticker placed on the door frame or fuel cover, be sure to check the pressure when the tires are cold, ie when driving less than 3 km before the test.

Tires RTA proposes to replace tires within a period of no more than 5 years, or earlier if the remaining lines are less than 1.6 mm in any part of the tire line of passenger cars.

Tires should be replaced if other signs of damage are available, such as cracks on both sides, damage to some parts of the strip and others.

Only tires of reliable or licensed marks should be used, and rires that do not meet standards may be unsafe and should be avoided.

You should only use the correct type and size of the tire, it is important to refer to the owner's manual when uncertain.

Tires must be rotated every 10,000 km or according to the manufacturer's advice, in order to match the damage. The wheel balance and consistency check will help at this time with the full life of the tire and ensure the safest driving.

Respect the load capacity and tire speed, do not drive over pavements in the summer months.

Avoid driving on or near hazardous objects that may damage tires and make them unsafe or suitable for service such as rocks, glass, drilling and sidewalks for example.

The spare tire: Check for age, condition and air pressure frequently to avoid getting a spare tire that is not suitable for use when needed!
