The Public Works Authority has announced that it will close a section of Gharafa Street and will carry out a small diversion for approximately 17 months from Friday 20/4/2018 to 30/12/2019. This will facilitate the completion of the construction of Al Gharafa Street Tunnel as part of the Khalifa Avenue project.
With this diversion, both directions of Al Gharrafa Street between Thani bin Jasim Street traffic signal and Al Hazm Street traffic signal will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes. The Public Works Authority, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic, has posted this change through its social media to alert citizens and drivers about the new diversion.
The authorities will install road signs that will guide drivers to the converted road. The Public Works Authority urged all citizens and all drivers to adhere to the current speed limit which is 50 kilometers per hour and follow road signs to ensure their safety and to avoid traffic. It is worth mentioning that road diversions were designed in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic.
