Warming the car in winter .. Good for the engine or is it a myth?

Warming the car in winter\

With the onset of the winter season, many car owners are keen to warm the car engine for several minutes before starting, especially in the morning time. The lower the temperature, the longer the driver waits to warm up his car, believing that this behavior maintains the engine, but is this really useful for the car or not?

According to German experts, the idea of warming cars in winter for a long time so that the engine is not damaged is just a "myth." The experts also stressed that this is a "waste of time only", and completely wrong especially with modern cars that rely on the system of electronic injection "Fuel injection", where the engines of modern cars receive fuel immediately when running, and therefore, preferably move without waiting.

Most car manufacturers advise motorists not to wait more than half a minute when the vehicle is running in the morning, and then move the car, which contributes to lower fuel consumption and emissions.

Older cars with a carburetor and do not rely on the fuel injection system, the US Agency stressed that it needs to heat only a minute before moving, in order to get the oil inside the engine for optimal heat to perform its functions.
