How to drive safely in the rain

With the onset of the rainy season in Qatar, all drivers must be careful and take precautions before driving.

It is known that driving during rain fall is dangerous and requires more focused and skilled drivers, especially if the rain is heavy and water has filled the roads. Here we give you some tips that may help you for safe driving on the roads of Doha during the rain season:

1. Inspect the car's tires before the rainy season begin, good tires help you control your vehicle better. You can check the specifications of a good tire by clicking here.

2. Fix the front and rear windscreen from any kind of scratches. These scratches may not seem a problem in dry weather, but they are a problem during rain because they lead to weak visions for the driver.

3. Try not make any journey during rain unless it is necessary

4. Make sure not to splash pedestrians or other cars with water while passing over puddles in the road.

5. Inspect you windshield for the front and back windscreen. Some become dry during hot season; thus you have to change them.

6. Before any trip, make sure to clean the glass from the outside and the inside to prevent condensed air from forming on the glass.

7. Make sure that the glass heater is working in the front and rear windscreens, they are very important in the rainy season

8. Reduce your driving speed compared to normal days, because it is known that the higher the speed is the less control you have on the car. This does not mean that you drive with unreasonably slow speed and cause traffic.

9. Leave enough distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.

10. Do not use cruise control during rain as it, sometimes, does not function well which leads to losing control of the vehicle.

11. Avoid crossing over puddles of water on the edges of the roads as much as you can. Avoid them at even slow speed. If cold water enters to a hot engine, it will cause mechanical breakdowns.

12. Communicate well with the drivers who are on the road with you, share the road with them in a safe manner for all.
